Today is the 70th anniversary of D-Day. SEVENTY!
I’ve been enjoying the book Monuments Men* lately, and I’m really amazed at what these men went through. I had no idea that it took 2 entire months for them to conquer Normandy. I guess I kinda’ assumed that D-Day was “it,” that the allied troops went in, fought, succeeded, and the war ended. Compressed history at its worst.
So, now I’m learning, and grieving for those poor men and their families.
