My to-do list is always longer than my day, but this week I intentionally decided to start adding one more thing to my list: To Delegate.

Unfortunately, I sometimes forget that I’m capable of asking for help.  This little line in my planner is helping me to break that habit.   It is a beautiful thing.

I choose one thing each day that I really do not want to do, and simply ask someone, anyone, to take that task off my plate.  So far I have gotten out of cleaning the gunk out of my tub drains (my son), baking a cake for a fundraiser (a friend), matching orphan socks (my husband), and lots more.  It is heaven!  Why didn’t I do this earlier?

Today I’m planning to get out of watching my own child.  We have a 3 hour rehearsal planned for the older kids next week, and I know that my youngest will spend that time bored and cranky.  Time to ask for help, and maybe make Grandpa’s day at the same time.

To Delegate.  My new favorite item on the to-do list.

Love this! It would be hard for me though, because I am a people pleaser and do not like to inconvenience anyone! So I end up taking on more than I can handle. The Lord is working on me, though, and showing me that it is OK to ask for and/or accept help.
