Albert_Einsteinquote

In our homeschool we use a combination of Classical and Unit Study methods.  I am startled by how often I will tell this to people and instantly they will respond with how great it is that we have unit studies to allow ourselves room for creativity. Creativity is not limited to our units.  In fact, a well exercised imagination is a crucial part of developing the logic and wisdom that classical education is so well known for.

I had the pleasure of writing about this false impression for Sandbox to Socrates this week.  It is a really fun piece.

I went and read your post, and loved it!! I think there’s plenty of room in classical ed for creativity. Being a musician, people always assume I have a creative artistic brain, but actually I’m a very logical and analytical thinker. The tie between math and music just fascinates me and I see how the creative and logical aspects of music can work together.
