We are a loud family.

I can see all of you who know us IRL laughing.  Okay, okay, so that was a giant understatement.  We are a very loud family, or as my kind brother in-law jokingly says, we are “lacking in volume control.”
Some places bring out the silence in us though.  The lake is one of those spots.  Mid-week and off season is our favorite.  It is so easy to hear the call of the eagles or the drum of woodpeckers, that we all go down a notch or two just so we don’t miss anything important.

Lapping water, scurrying chipmunks, cracking ice.

Aah!

The sensation of cold water and warm sand.

Picnic lunches on rough boards.

Giggling voices as they make up elaborate plans for the future.

The familiar scent of closed up houses, wood smoke, and flowers just beginning to bloom.

Yeah, we like it here.

Woot woot!!! I love, love, love loud families. Largely because I don’t know how else to be. I grew up in a family where we routinely were the loudest, laughingest (is that a word?) group in the restaurant. I like the phrase “lacks volume control.” That’s us. I never understood the need for an intercom system in a house, no matter how big the home, my voice can carry, same with my kids. Aaaaaannyyway. :) Nice to “meet” you and what lovely pics, especially the first one. Beautiful!

I think any house with kids has a less the perfect volume control! I think its possible I have a heard of elephants living in my house rather than two kids!!

Loud is just a shorter way of saying uncontrollable happiness, in my mind. I am all for loud! :) However, I understand how it is nice to slip away for some calm time and I am so glad that you and your family had that!

Ooh! I like your translation – uncontrollable happiness. That’s us!

Oh I love it! And sometimes that beautiful (and in most cases elusive) silence is oh so needed. ;) Love this – and love the shots! :)
